On one side kids at a age they should be enjoying... work hard at something and excel at it,whatever it be.
On the other side so called highly educated (?) people ...supposedly people who should excel at something find faults with these kids saying they aren't good at all facts of life.
Are any one of us good in everything ? or for that matter is anyone in this world good ?
Learn to appreciate achievement, for they have achieved far more than most of us did.
To all those people who keep saying this is rote learning of words, do you know how many words there are ? and if it is humanely possible to remember the spelling of each of the words ? There is much more logic involved as words of a specific origin (greek,Italian etc) have a specific characteristic and trend it is all about picking out the trend...keeping your cool and spelling it out taking into account all the smaller variances.
Before any of you go off on how kids work too hard, take a survey of the most successful people in the world most them spent their childhood working extremely hard towards a goal.
These are kids they can grow up and learn and become more rounded, hopefully that can apply to some posters here.
This is just a foundation for a bright future....but apparently people are seeing only how they are not more rounded today.

6 out of 13 finalist on this prestigious competition are all kids of (high skilled) immigrants from india, who came here on h1 or similar visas and are now on gc or their parents are still waiting for gc......
this is very important to show the value and positive influence high skilled immigrants bring in to the society they live in..... this is a positive externality of high skilled immigrants like us..... & adds one point in our camp...... simple eb3/eb2 tracking won't cut it if that is all u understand from immigration forum....

Hi,
I am writing this on behalf of a friend whom I helped him in e-filing his EAD& AP Renewal.
I too had the same situation. Before it gave this message, it gave a warning, Middle Name is not entered. Since it was a warning, I ignored it and went to the next screen, but there it gave the same message as you got "are still suggested fields not completed on the following forms".
I veryfied each and every field and tried 3/4 times, but every time the same message, out of frustration, I just some middle initial and submitted, then it worked.
But actually there is no middle name in my name. But the form got submitted with the confirmation.
I called the USCIS and told them about the same problem, they asked to submit a letter asking for correction of the name along with supporting documents. SO I have submitted the same.
Actually I have applied both EAD and AP e-file simultaneously. Both are Renewals.
I have received the receipt for EAD, but not for AP. Also recieved the FP notice for EAD.
I called USCIS again, said about not received the AP receipt notice. They said, they have mailed it. but I said about the middle name problem and said not received yet. They said since I submitted a letter for correcting Name, that will take care of it. For not receving the Receipt notice for AP, they said, they will mail a new one.
Exactly after one month(Whichi is yesterday), I have received the replacement Receipt Notice of AP, but suprisingly the receipt number on this is mentioned the actual Receipt number of the EAD, but clearlt mentioned this application is of Case Type I-131. So I called USCIS again and said about the wrong receipt number, they gave me a confirmation number on the case and said, wait for 45 days and call then if I don;t receive any update on this.
Actually, I dont know how to tackle your issue but I went ahead and certified my 131 efile without putting MI as I dont have it. I am waiting for my receipt now. I think, its an USCIS application issue.

I think all the work that Franklin did in preparation for the Rally and then at the Rally itself makes it obvious that she is better than most of the IV members (me included) who could not make it to the Rally.

Its very important that we all actively participate in getting IVs goals met. The rally was a big, for-the-first-time event, and still people seem more excited by tracking receipt notices, and the short-sightedness of it all has made many people ticked off. The turnout could easily have been higher (like someone said, see the lines to the doctors office for getting medicals done when the dates were current, and compare that with how many showed up at the rally).

My current H1 is expiring soon. My 3 year H1 extension is pending. I had receipt notice but NJ DMV at Wayne refused to accept that. My current License is valid only till the middle of the next month.

There have been lots of discussion and spotlights on H1-B issues in the past. One of the least heard, but the most pressing issue that continues to plague day-to-day lives of thousands of high-skilled legal immigrant workers in the US is Retrogression causing deep anxiety, frustration and considerable delay in processing and approving of permanent residency, also called Green Card.
For employment-based green cards, every country has a fixed number of immigrant visas or quota on a per-year basis. When I-485 adjudication or adjustment of status from non-immigrant to immigrant status (example H1-B to Permanent Resident) successfully concludes, it leads to approval of green card. This approval requires a visa number to be available. But, if the visa quota for a country has been used up, visa numbers become unavailable for that country. This unavailability of visa number is the effect of retrogression, wherein, the US Department of State, based on the current demand for the visas decides allocation of how many visa numbers can be released to meet the demand and be in conformance with the pre-set quota.
Employers file for green cards for skilled professionals to obtain a legal immigrant status for future employment. Skilled professionals who have green card processing pending typically wait for their green cards to be approved for an average period of 5 years. During this period, they have very limited, if any, freedom to exercise choice with changing jobs, or getting a raise or promotions, being with the same job, title, position and employer with no way out until it gets approved. The only way out would be to risk losing your green card or having to start all over again. Family members of such skilled professionals share the pain as well. Spouses who would like to obtain jobs and attain financial freedom do not have the legal rights to work until they at the least have an employment authorization. Children of such professionals who apply for college cannot benefit from federal government loans, but instead need their parents to seek private loans. Becoming a legal immigrant has become an increasingly challenging and frustrating experience as has been noted by the experiences of each individual of this community. Unless a legislative reform is made, green cards are not only going to be tough, but also seemingly impossible to materialize.
Immigration Voice, a non-profit organization in the US, founded in Nov 2005 has begun grassroots level effort to alleviate the untold sufferings of high skilled professionals and has been working actively through volunteer members of the organization, that has grown to 9,000+ members in just more than a year. Immigration Voice recently hired Patton Boggs, a top public affairs firm for lobbying efforts towards the immigration goals of the high skilled worker community. Immigration Voice is now heavily engaged pursuing CIR or the Comprehensive Immigration Reform which will be introduced in the Senate in early March 2007 and then proceed to the House before it will be signed by the President to be enacted. This may very well be the ray of hope for the thousands of immigrants stranded on the not-so-green-now land of green cards.

Guys if you compare the way people live and spend in India, I think they are more well off then we are. I know some friends here, all they do is, look for coupons. They’ll fight all day with Customer care reps for $1 extra that company charged, they don’t leave tips when they eat out and they eat out once in 6 months. Except for a Camry and a leather chair may be a better bed, what is this guy doing better than he would have done in India. Atleast there he had a ‘Kamwaali’ who did the cleaning for his family. He had a tutor who taught his daughter. Here in US all he’s doing is cleaning bathrooms, kitchen their his children ad driving his Camry.
Not only they are saving $1 by fighting with customer service rep to dispute the $1 admin fee on the phone bill or some other fake charge on credit card bill, they are also saving a lot of money by not contributing to Immigration Voice.
So combine all this:
1. Being cheap patrons at restaurant, not giving tips (buffet restaurants dont deserve tips according to the cheap indians).
2. Bringing stinky dinner for next day's lunch therby saving lunch money and not eating out with co-workers. Even more savings from potential situations where you have to tip.
3. Wearing sneakers instead of leather shoes on weekdays. Sneakers are cheaper than leather shoes and sometimes even look good with trousers and dress shirts.(yeah right...)
4. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...BEING SMART ABOUT IMMIGRATION VOICE AND NOT CONTRIBUTING $20 per MONTH.
See, all this adds up to a fortune when you multiply dollars times 40 (or 43 or 38 whatever the heck the exchange rate is)..........................

:confused: Guys I cannot believe this. Our Wisconsin IV team went to see both these senator's immigration liasons 3 months ago. They both told us how much they feel for us and how much they will support us! Either they lied or it's the Democratic agenda to block everything if the illegals are not included. Very disappointing.

H1b humane-hear my story..it cannot be as inhuman as it can be..(i have written the story in one of the forums before also..)
My PD-Oct 2001..Eb3..My wife RIR-almost making it thru I140when all hell broke loose in our lives...my wife was pregnant and because of stupid gynaecologist..she ended up in hospital with complicated premature preganancy..guess what..as if it was not bad enough..her company got acquired just when she was admitted in hospital...imagine wondering about health insurance when she was kept to bed rest with no mobility allowed..we filed for insurance by mistake..which said that 20% in patient.....we were so shaken that even human resource did not advise us..guess what..baby was born..and it was surmised that baby will have long stay in hosiptal...2-3 months(eventually it was 4 months!)..somwhere around the first month..I realized that her insurance..will rip me off..I called right at the end of the first month..and tried several times to put my wife and baby on my insurance so that i don't end up paying 20%..it was lot of efforts until I found some desi in Blue cross insurance who put the whole family from the first initial month..when normally people get the policy for the following month at that time.
one down --and then another came..my wife was called to her office from hospital saying that..since there was lot of work in her office..she could come for some days..guess what..she went back..thinking..she could finish work and then take extended leave....guess what..she was laid off..and with baby in hospital..and lay off..plus a rush to change her status to H4 visa..imagine the workload.....finally got her status changed..to h4 visa..with GC and labor in trash...
I was so disgusted..that I started writing to Governor Shwarzenegger' office..who put me with Senator Diane Fienstein..and of course labor secretory Chao..after all the correspondings..all I got was my D number listed from Dallas..their sympathies...ALL I WROTE to them..Hey I want to change jobs because in those days I was commuting between LA to San Diego..where my baby was hospitalized...I wanted to be with my baby..and not work..but it was not possible..if I did..then I could get out of status...I even wrote to Department of Homeland security...and got no reply...they don't care..I ahve to be illegal to get sympathies..I guess!
Situation was bad..finally baby was out of hospital and I weathered all with help of Almighty...and now I am so disgusted with system..that I am moving to vancouver...
But I have another pleasant surprise..my boss wants me to work from vancouver and visit office once in a month...I don't know...whether it is possible...stay in vancouver and visit LA for 2 weeks and then go back and still maintain H1 status..

Sorry to hear your situation. There is you and several other members who I have had a chance to speak to, are going through a tough time in life (both on personal and professional fronts) due to not having a greencard. Such experiences are my motivation to work as a volunteer and core member for IV and do something to solve problems faced by several thousands of people like me. IV is currently the only organization in USA working for the cause of legal high skilled immigrants. This IV forum has brought all of us together on one platform where we can share our views and pain. Members have come up with ideas and helped this community in any way they could. Some members decided to join this effort as core members and pledged more time and effort in order to bring relief to all of us. It is not an easy job. There is nobody else to work on the issues we face. You have yourself seen how the govt. and lawmakers responded to you and still did not do anything when you tried yourself as an individual. When we try to raise such issues collectively as IV, lawmakers do hear us. With greater membership numbers and resources we can certainly do much more to influence them and get the laws changed. Members pls. help us increase our membership and funding so that we can all collectively bring about a change and provide relief to everyone in our community. desibechara, If you have decided to move to Canada, good luck to you and your family. My PD-Oct 2001..Eb3..My wife RIR-almost making it thru I140when all hell broke loose in our lives...my wife was pregnant and because of stupid gynaecologist..she ended up in hospital with complicated premature preganancy..guess what..as if it was not bad enough..her company got acquired just when she was admitted in hospital...imagine wondering about health insurance when she was kept to bed rest with no mobility allowed..we filed for insurance by mistake..which said that 20% in patient.....we were so shaken that even human resource did not advise us..guess what..baby was born..and it was surmised that baby will have long stay in hosiptal...2-3 months(eventually it was 4 months!)..somwhere around the first month..I realized that her insurance..will rip me off..I called right at the end of the first month..and tried several times to put my wife and baby on my insurance so that i don't end up paying 20%..it was lot of efforts until I found some desi in Blue cross insurance who put the whole family from the first initial month..when normally people get the policy for the following month at that time.
one down --and then another came..my wife was called to her office from hospital saying that..since there was lot of work in her office..she could come for some days..guess what..she went back..thinking..she could finish work and then take extended leave....guess what..she was laid off..and with baby in hospital..and lay off..plus a rush to change her status to H4 visa..imagine the workload.....finally got her status changed..to h4 visa..with GC and labor in trash...
I was so disgusted..that I started writing to Governor Shwarzenegger' office..who put me with Senator Diane Fienstein..and of course labor secretory Chao..after all the correspondings..all I got was my D number listed from Dallas..their sympathies...ALL I WROTE to them..Hey I want to change jobs because in those days I was commuting between LA to San Diego..where my baby was hospitalized...I wanted to be with my baby..and not work..but it was not possible..if I did..then I could get out of status...I even wrote to Department of Homeland security...and got no reply...they don't care..I ahve to be illegal to get sympathies..I guess!
Situation was bad..finally baby was out of hospital and I weathered all with help of Almighty...and now I am so disgusted with system..that I am moving to vancouver...
But I have another pleasant surprise..my boss wants me to work from vancouver and visit office once in a month...I don't know...whether it is possible...stay in vancouver and visit LA for 2 weeks and then go back and still maintain H1 status..
what do you say..after all the stress!

Sorry to hear your situation. There is you and several other members who I have had a chance to speak to, are going through a tough time in life (both on personal and professional fronts) due to not having a greencard. Such experiences are my motivation to work as a volunteer and core member for IV and do something to solve problems faced by several thousands of people like me. IV is currently the only organization in USA working for the cause of legal high skilled immigrants. This IV forum has brought all of us together on one platform where we can share our views and pain. Members have come up with ideas and helped this community in any way they could. Some members decided to join this effort as core members and pledged more time and effort in order to bring relief to all of us. It is not an easy job. There is nobody else to work on the issues we face. You have yourself seen how the govt. and lawmakers responded to you and still did not do anything when you tried yourself as an individual.
