People with grown up kids, I guess would prefer Canada over India. There are many problems starting with the education system, reservations etc. For kids who had been studying here from KG through grade 8-9 it's difficult to get dragged in the rat race in India, especially for normal kids who don't belong to any reservation category.
Yes in Canada we know that finding a job is going to be difficult and we should brain-storm about how to tackle this problem?
What skillsets are in demand? Anybody has idea?
I also have a wild idea like US companies may look at Canada as a outsourcing destination if given very competitive package. One of the biggest advantage will be proximity to the US, so better control over quality etc. That may not turn into a big boom but is a possibility.
My company has offices in both canada(toronto and vancouver) and US .. i have worked for extended periods of time in canada. I agree that career development oppourtunities are limited due to economic reasons, but I there is no way toronto or vancouver can be considered "racist". And talking of high skilled workers, who said there is absolutely no discrimination in the US ? Isnt that what programmers guild and other labor unions are all about ? how come so many people support the blue collar illegal aliens (mostly meat-packers and lettuce pickers), but nobody cares about us, tax-paying, law-abiding highly skilled people ?
The difference is at least the canadian immigration policy doesnt institutionalize the discrimination by making us wait in limbo forever, unlike the US laws. At the end of the day, I would rather live with "limited career development" opportunity in canada and change employers at will than be surrounded by plenty of such opportunity but have my hands tied behind my back by the US laws.
As for "discrimination", we as immigrants always will have to bear with some discrimination,subtle or overt, from the native-born white collar workers whether in the US or anywhere else in the developed world. This can create fights amoung us. This is like divide and rule.. It did work in the past,. so we must make these guys do EB2 and EB3.
BUT they bring some very good points.
EB3 will go nowhere unless we act. Very Correct.
They want to do something and looks like decided with a plan.

Writing to service centers is a new idea even I didnt get so far.

Is it a good idea to contact the Congressman even when 90 days are not over. My EAD expires on 18th September and 90 days will get over on 24th September. I have already put in the expedite request with Texas, but haven't heard since then, whether its approved or not. Please suggest what should I do?

I am also in PA and my DL(driving licence) will expire in last of September month and my H1b extension is still pending at California Center . Can i get DL renewed from PENNDOT on the basis of Receipt Notice of H1b Extension and a letter from employer ?

I'm also going to do a FOIA request for my I-140 that got approved in Jan 08. Employer is saying its their petition and they wont share it. I'm not going into argument because they revoke it now - The Legal Immigration system is too weak and too much lopsided to a "employer" rather than on the "individual employee"
I know during a PD porting to another AC21 employer this approval notice is sufficient even if the I-140 is revoked but my doubt is if my I-140 gets revoked can i switch to another employer and extend my H1B by 3 more years ??

I'm not sure about the usefulness of this poll? If you look at the percentage of people applied on 2nd July, it is close to 70%. Assuming some error in the polling percentage, this poll indicates that atleast 50% of people have appplied already on 2nd July. As per the press reports, USCIS has received around 55000 applications on 18th July. That means another 55000 people only are going to apply by 17th Aug making a total of 110,000 plus minus 20,000. I do not believe this number and the poll. Any arguments here?

Infopass and Expedite on ph did not work. My congressman office helped me to expedite AP . Mine and my wife's AP got approved even though we requested expeidited only for my wife's AP.

regarding FP, there are cases where no FP notice came after July 2007 filing, like mine, thats more than 15 months. And recenlty my friend's wife who applied as his dependent got FP notice, but he didn't. He's july 2007 filer too. So, not sure if FP notice really means anything.

Your good fight on the retrogression issue kind of kept us going without giving up. In just a few days what some of you have done with www.immigrationvoice.org is amazing and it truly deserves a lot better than the faint response they have got so far from all of us in this legal black hole. Honestly, I do not care if we are not able to raise 100K dollars for the lobbying efforts for the next immigration bill on February. I don not care if this money is finally lost. It will be money well spent if we all realize that we have to do something instead of waiting years and years and years� Any money is worth the effort regarding our goals, even if our present intention does not succeed. Is worth it!!. Lets move on, hoping for the best� It is worth to try this next immigration bill. Any money spent on this is worth it� Can not you guys see it? More and more years on this black hole!! More years paying our lawyers for H1B renewal, more years for renewal of our driving licenses, more years for our wives to wait, more years for our employers exploiting us� This next immigration bill could be our last chance in many years to get our unfair and sad situation known and probably solved. Most of the IVans have given good suggestions though no one is a pro on domestic violence case. We are not in stone age - Personally, I dont like any kind of violence against women including the people who does. I think you should get a good attorney, prove that you are innocent and move on.

I have known these fence sitters and claimers of all the intelligence in the world for long. In my personal life I have started ignoring them and we can do the same in this effort.
Let these people shout (because that is all they can do rather than real work). If somebody shouts a lot ban him from the board and let's proceed peacefully.
Opposing ideas from active members are always appreciated but someone who just knows how to oppose but never do anything kills motivation. Whether right or wrong it is a bad call for any plan.
So even if somebody thinks he/she is giving good advice but they are not doing anything to help us let's kick them out.
