I understand your frustration, but the rules are the same for everybody, and if India sends more immigrants to the US then any other country, that\\\'s not the US Government\'s fault.
If there were not per country limits, Indians would consume all those EB visas visas leaving no chance to the applicants from other countries to immigrate to the US legally.

This is a blatant lie. India is not using up ALL the H1B Visas, how can it use up ALL EB Immigration visas.
Right; So, why o why the priority date for Indian (and chinese) born immigrants are way before ROW? Because there are more of you guys than ROW who want to immigrate to US. And that is OK, since those countries have way more population than rest of the other countries and more professionals. It is just that the policy is here since they don't want everyone (waiters, DMV clerks, etc) in Silicon Valley to be forced to learn Mandarin or Persian or whatever.

we all want the best to happen- for ourselves- and as much as we can help it
for everyone else too!!

Bottomline is if such bills turn into bill, its not just immigrant community but the economy as whole gets impacted.

Clearly the guys who proposed this bill do not think that it will have negative impact on the economy. To the contrary, these guys seem to think that it will free up jobs for Americans, currently occupied by the undeserving immigrants.
The intensity of these amendments are increasing. Earlier it was on Tarp companies. Now this amendment is for all companies that have laid off workers. I interpret the language to include "work authorization" which means EAD. Even if it doesn't include EAD, say this amendment will pass, then what is next? In next phase they will come after EAD, won't they?

This is the exact reason why USCIS has a country quota system ensuring ROW folks do not have to compete with OVERSUBSCRIBED countries.

Why are you in favour of per country quotas, having been born in an oversubscribed country? Are you a glutton for punishment? Do you enjoy waiting 6 years more than an equally qualified counterpart from another country who moves onto bigger and better jobs while you rot in the same position and pay grade for years?

Guys,
Lets have a conference call today to finalize the flyer. I have some comments/questions on the updated flyer. Its better we do this over the phone so that we don't waste time in these posts back and forth. If everyone is OK, I will schedule a call for tonight at 10.30 PM as I have class.

I think at least 50% (Conservative estimate - it may even be close to 90%) of us can contribute $20 a month.......that would be close to 4500 people
Again simple math - 4500* 20 = $90,000.....
If half of us contribute we can raise close to a $100K in no time.....
I think the question in people minds is whether this will get them anything....will a bill pass with our provisions even after u do it...So remember, this whole effort is to achieve that only...so why sit back and watch...lets do something, if you are not contributing in core activities, just contribute funds...even $20 will help the IV goals..

I-94 is not attached with H1...does he needs to go out of country and get it stamped?
AFAIK,a person can have only one status at a time.He is already in H1 if he had a I94 attached.However if he intends to travel out of the country and reenter he needs to get his visa stamped .If he has applied 485 then, he also has the option of using AP ,if it is approved.

I Wish the border patrol was doing its job more efficiently and doing more searches not less. This way !@#$% illegals would be kicked out and our immigration process wouldnt be held hostage by them.
I live near the Mexican border. There are border check points everywhere when you leave the city. They will stop you, ask you your status. First time I didnt have my passport or anything. He checked my drivers license and politely reminded me about the requirement to carry immigration documents. Since then, I always carry a copy of passport and H1B and have never had any problems.
I hate it when people cry and feel like they are being persecuted when asked to follow the law.

I think we will GC sooner than anticipated. I think those who filed in July/Aug will get in three/four years. Just a rough estimate. Any one agrees with me?
