Is there anyone who got an appointment letter recently from Amercan Embassy, MUMBAI?
My interview is scheduled on 22nd Aug but not received letter yet.
Also could you share your EB type and PD? Are you here in the US or applying from India? Thanks for your help!

remember folks, this will be a recurring theme for few years.
what I mean by that is, everyone who gets there EAD and AP due to this huge movement, will be applying for renewal in exactly 6 months, so there will be waves of applicants.
I'm assuming that almost all of the recent filers of 485 wont get there Green Card and hence will have to keep renewing there EAD's
it might be a smart thing to ask for less time EAD (is this possible)
so instead of asking 1Yr valid EAD, ask for 9 months EAD.
and since you can apply 6 months before expiry you will be eligible to file for EAD renewal in 3 months (when there will be less crowd)

This would be the last visa bulletin for this year. The dates should move just like they did last year to consume all numbers.

can you post the address that you sent to ? I am planning to do the same too. I will attach an email from the travel agent for loss of money if i cancel my tickets.

I efiled my AP on 9/5/10 @NSC and it was approved today after requesting expediting on 10/5/10 based on financial loss, I have a business transaction back home for which i need to be present and provided all supporting documentation related to that.
This is what is think is more effective than contacting senators/Ombudsman for expediting, resend all the I-131 supporting documentation,proof of emergency/loss, 2 photos and include a cover letter with bold colorful fonts requesting expediting to the same address you sent your app earlier (btw, i used the USCIS center courier address and not PO Box address), i believe this way your app goes to the officer quicker and he has all the documents needed to approve your case right away if you qualify for expediting, i have used this process more than once and know it works at least for me....you have tried other methods, why not try this as well!

One MUST present in US during AOS. The parole is only for any emergency purpose; which is similar to prisioners. As USCIS is flexible, in approving the AP, the people don't realize the travel limitation of AP. They are travelling on AP for vatation/fun etc.. As per law, the AP is not intended for it. The CBP officer was right in asking the legitimacy of the travel. The AP document clearly says it is based on "humanitation" admission to retrun after an emergency travel.

Yup, Gandhigiri will work.. We have lots of time in our hands.. British enjoyed their 300 year stay in India.. Lets enjoy our stay in US also.. at the hands of our employers, lawyers etc.. :o
Lets not hope for results just act. If Gandhi could drive Britishers out of India using this approach, USCIS is also made of human people and sure they will do something to lessen our pains.

Efiled @ TSC on may 29th.
FP on june 28th, still no approval.
My current EAD expires September 24th and i am working on EAD currently.
Called USCIS and opened a SR on August 4th. Got a letter on August 11th, saying, although my situation is serious, i have not provided enough proof. Called USCIS August 13th, asking where i can mail the proof. Was told there is no mailing address and no fax number.
Scheduled an Infoapss Appt. for August 18th, by then it will be around 82 days.
Around the 90th day planning to meet my Congressman/Senator and hoping they could help me.
If some one can help me in finding fax number to TSC to send in my Expedite request it will be great.

I keep hearing that "STEM will be exempt from the quota". What EXACTLY does that mean? Does it mean that:
1) STEM's can apply for 485 straight away if labor is approved regardless of PD?
2) STEM's still Cannot apply until PD is current, but after that no more waiting for the country quota

Unless all of the 10,000 immigrants are going to bring money from their respective countries to buy homes, it is not going to change anything signficantly. You are proposing to take the money that is in the system, i.e asking banks to lend you money. The current crisis is credit crunch. Banks dont have money. All they have is mortgage bonds. There are no takers of these bonds. They are becoming junk. So, if any money from outside flows in, there will be some difference.
I have listened to a couple of speaches by Bernake in NPR. Basically that guy is completely in the blank on how to handle the economy. He simply says, we are in this mess, because the lenders were very lenient. Fed measures such as interest rate cut and pumping money into the banking system is causing the dollar to fall thus further weakening the economy.
I say, we all write to Bernake that some 10, 000 immigrants will buy homes if we all get a GC. 10, 000 may or may not buy a home, but let us just polish the numbers a little bit. 10,000 * 300,000 (average home price) = 1 million billion dollars . Actually the total figure is 3 billion $$; enough to give a massive jolt to the sagging economy. I think we should also write to Wall Street journal and all major news paper organizations about this.
In America, people gets recognized when they offers a solution for a problem faced by the country. Whiners are (who write to Bush or Senators) do not get noticed nor are respected.

My son was on H4 and joined undergraduate course in Canada last year. He is Canadian permanent resident too. As per July VB, I can file for I-485. My question is:
1. Can I and my wife file I-485 as AOS and file I-824 to change AOS to CP for my son, so that he may file I-485 as CP from US Consulate, Montreal, Canada?
2. If not, what are the options?

I dont think USCIS is thinking that way. They are just picking a stack of application ( mix of all EB1 2 3 for all nationalities) and validating the applications to see if anything is missing or if there are potential reasons to deny it. If they can deny it they will do it promptly and that is one less case to be shown as pending. If they need additional info they will issue RFE and get updates. If they feel satisfied they can pre-adjudicate application and claim that count in their yearly review as acheivement.
Preadjudication is done to maximize visa utilization and avoid rapid movement of dates. DOS moved dates in July 2007 to maximize visa utilization keeping CP applicants in mind, but did not have a count of AOS applicants.
But the fact with EB is most applicants are AOS as compared to CP.
By preadjudicating they are able to have a count upfront to hit the CPO trigger.
Now when your dates become current, the officer may want to review your situation again or may not - this is pure speculation and is a possibility.
